The Marmara Sea in Turkey is suffering from untreated wastewater, rising temperatures, and overfishing. A thick layer of slime known as marine mucilage, or “sea snot” appears off the coasts of Istanbul. UNTITLED brings together the photographs of people swimming in the Marmara Sea that were taken in 2010 with a futile talk on mucilage from 2021 by the chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party. With found additions to a personal archive, the video points out the potential of every image and moment to become a witness.
